I had a request for a Lap Chole setup so I thought I would make a post with details! Lap Choles & Lap Appys are both very similar. The main difference with the removal of an appendix is that we use a stapler to remove the appendix. If it’s a peds case we may use a Ligasure or two endloops. Instead of a 12mm and three 5mm trocars, we will only use a 12mm and two 5mm trocars or three 5mm trocars for a peds patient.
Exploratory Laparotomies are very common add-ons & emergency surgeries over the weekend. I have had some requests for this setup so I will try to go into as much detail as possible. As you probably know, I’m bad at explaining things! Depending on the patient’s size, you may have to use the Bookwalter. The Bookwalter is a 33-piece retractor set that attaches to the side of the bed.
